In all the excitement last night, there was no time for Eamon to release the latest addition of the Litany. Thankfully, he rectified that on the radio this morning.

It still seems  faintly  unusual  to insist Giovanni Trapattoni  has to be judged at the highest managerial standards by comparing him to a golfer, a horse trainer and a hurling gaffer.

But it’s as close as the country has to an honours system, and all the usual suspects were present and correct; Aidan O’Brien, Brian Cody, John Oxx etc.

It does seem like a long way back for Lewis Hamilton and Bernard Dunne, but the out-of-favour duo will have been given hope by two new promotions.

Congratulations on a proud day for Rory McIlroy and Declan Kidney. Well done lads.
