We were a little late to RTE’s web-only punditry on Slovakia-Ireland, a mistake of course, as this is when the lads relax a little and say whatever comes into their heads, safe in the knowledge that no right-thinking individual will be watching.
This time, Blurt of the Night came from Liam Brady, who rather frankly admitted that neither he, nor probably Giovanni Trapattoni, had the foggiest idea about FIFA’s player nationality rules and certainly had no idea Scotland could reclaim James McCarthy unless he plays for us in a competitive international.
“Is that right, Bill…. oh dear… someone should tell Trapattoni… someone should tell us these things, Bill.”
Actually, in fairness, perhaps Liam is right and it’s John Delaney and co who should carry the can for any vacuum of information.
