Danger
Here sources in London report that
former England manager Glenn
Hoddle’s first signing on his
return to Spurs is to be barmy
mystic Eileen Drewery. In agreeing
to join the London giants, Hoddle
has been allowed to hand-pick his
back room staff. Old stable mate
John Gorman has already got the
call, but now Hoddle is to turn to
his guru Drewery, with Director of
Football David Pleat the most
likely to make way.
Our
sources claim that Hoddle and
Drewery have been in constant
telepathic contact since George
Graham was ousted two weeks ago.
Hoddle’s preferred mode of
communication is thought to have
swayed new owners ENIC who,
according to one insider, see it
as a sign that their man
recognises that the club has a
tight budget and is reining in his
phone bills.
Hoddle
sees Drewery as the perfect ally
in the Director of Football
position. Hoddle has long been
impressed by Drewery’s ability
to determine from a player’s
aura how injury prone he is, how
committed to club he might be etc.
This will be vital if Hoddle is to
strengthen the Londoners into
serious contenders.
Hoddle is
also convinced that Drewery can
have a positive effect on Spurs’
walking wounded. Drewery's
trademark healing hands-laying is
sure to see the likes of Darren
Anderton back in action sooner
rather than later.
Moreover,
Drewery is one of the few people
in Britain to be profiting from
the foot and mouth cull, which has
allowed her to stockpile crucial
reserves of fresh animal entrails.
By laying out these entrails and
studying them for augurs, she will
be able to look far into the
club's future.
