Scenes at the final whistle of the Manchester Cup derby on Saturday were remarkably similar to scuffles at the end of United’s clash with Arsenal in September 2003.

On that occasion, four Arsenal players – Lauren, Martin Keown, Patrick Vieira (sending off) and Ray Parlour were banned for a total of nine matches, while the club was fined £175,000. Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo were fined but not banned.

As of yet, no charge has been brought against Manchester United or Manchester City players for Saturday’s events.
