Champions League Playoffs draw – guess who isn’t there

Yes, Tottenham aren’t in the Champions League playoffs. Not in the group stages and not in the playoffs. It’s probably a good thing anyway, given that they have Jermaine Defoe as their sole striker, and they sold him in 2008 (borrowed but true). Not a Betfair Champions League recommended pick, then.

Let’s look at the teams that still have a chance to be playing in the Champions League this season (and raking in all that cash UEFA is doling out like a corrupt mafia boss.

Also Missing: Liverpool. Rangers. Inter Milan.

The first legs take place on 21/22 August, with the returns a week later. The ten winners will join the 22 automatic entrants in the UEFA Champions League group stage, the draw for which is held in Monaco at 17.30CET on 30 August. The losers will take part in the UEFA Europa League group stage. The final takes place at Wembley on 25 May 2013.

    Its surprising Tottenham isn't there in Champions League 2012-13

    Tottenham was remained in top 5 clubs in last season of Barclays premier league 2011-12! Lets see what they do this time, and if they are not in champions league, its not good for sure!

  3. The first legs will take place across Aug. 21 and 22, and the ties will be concluded on Aug. 28 and 29. The 10 losers will enter the group stage of the 2012-13 Europa League.

  4. It would be good to see Tottenham in the champions league..
