Record Irish goalscorer Henrik Larsson’s surprise arrival at Ireland A after his earlier spell at Ireland B has certainly startled the pundits. Even that most well-researched of International football observers John Giles was bamboozled into a rare moment of factual uncertainty:

“He was a great player for Celtic and a great player for Denmark.”

A world apart from practised spoofer Andy Gray, who enjoys the lowest libel insurance premiums around:

“This is him last year when he is allegedly 34 or 35.”
